the plunge

well, it's time for a blog. I've wanted to do this for a while, but never got around to it. Why? I'm not sure. Everyone has a blog these days. But it's been a long time since I've done any significant reading and writing, and I want to get back into it.

continue reading ยปThe reading I'll have to work on. I read voraciously as a child and it's still one of my greatest joys, but when high school came around, reading became less about pleasure and more about work. But writing, well--sometimes it's a matter of having an outlet. It's good to have an outlet.

It's even better to have a captive audience and I don't expect that here, but if anyone reads this, I hope you're enjoying yourselves. There's too much happening in Chicago, San Francisco, the country, the world, and inside my little head to ignore.

Finally, a shout out to Brent Schulkin and Vital Node, the blog to which this fragile little offering owes its existence. No Brent = no This Blog. Good stuff.

Speaking of reading, I'm in the middle of a copy of Kavalier and Clay that has "Andrew Hill" written on the inside cover.... hrmmm.... wonder how long I've had it.... it's good.
